'Sharktopus' Trailer Released

I have nothing to say other than the way they combined a Shark and Octopus is maybe the best way possible. Watch the trailer:

Green Lantern CG Suit Revealed!

... And there it is, on the cover of Entertainment Weekly, the first look at the CG Green Lantern suit Ryan Reynolds will "wear" as Hal Jordan in the upcoming Green Lantern film. I think it's safe to say this is not what anyone expected. As opposed to the traditional superhero spandex, this suit looks more like ... someone ripped off a Green Lantern's skin and found green muscle underneath.

Avatar Gets an Extended Theatrical Re-Release

Are you an Avatar fanatic? Has the Blu-ray not quite fulfilled your desire to return to Pandora? If so, you're in luck. Twentieth Century Fox has announced that they're releasing a special extended version of Avatar to theaters starting August 27.

Sam Worthington and Radical Studios to Make Comics for Film Adapation; Is This Bad for Comics?

It's no secret that movie studios are hungry to adapt comics these days. Knowing how good these adaptations can be at making money, many comic creators naturally view the adaptation of one of their works to be a sign that they have hit big. It's good for everyone: the studios make some cash, the creators make some cash, the creators also get tons more people aware of their work, and the fans get a gigantic, moving, live-action, sound-endowed adaption of the comics they love. But is it going too far when one makes a comic for the purpose of having it adapted for the silver screen?

Look at This: Modern 'Bride of Frankenstein' Poster

Sometimes you just can't top the classic monsters. Frankensteinia has discovered this super-sweet Bride of Frankenstein poster created by artist Martin Ansin, being sold on Mondotees.com. Don't get too excited, though. Both this poster and its glow-in-the-dark variant have already sold out.

New 'Predators' Clip Released

We're just over a week away from the release of Predators. The studio has released plenty of trailers and sneak peeks, and now they're adding a straight-up clip from the film to the pile, via IGN. This doesn't appear to be an actual full, unbroken clip, but it still provides a good feel for the way the characters are thrown right into the mess in which they find themselves on the Predators' game hunting planet.

Look at This: 'Space Battleship Yamato' Trailer

There had been some talk during the latter part of 2009 about a live-action Space Battleship Yamato feature film from Japan, based on the anime of the same name. There was even a trailer of sorts, but by my recollection (and I could be off here), it was pretty short, even for a trailer. Now, though, we get a full, one-and-a-half-minute trailer.

Look at This: International 'Predators' Trailer

Last September, I entered into the Predators news with cautious optimism. Everything sounded nice, but with all the disappointing Predator works that have popped up in recent time, I couldn't help but to hedge my bets. Ever since then, though, it's like the more I see and hear about this movie, the more excited I am.

Write Down All Your Movie Ideas; Syfy's About to Turn to Fans to Steer a Feature Film

Genre fans, it seems, are much more vocal about their like/dislike of movies than fans of less fantastical cinema. But if you put a million sci-fi fans in a room and told them to make a movie, would you get an completely awesome film or a total mess? I'm guessing the latter. The Syfy channel, however, wants to find out.

Ridley Scott Thinks Han Solo Flew the "Maltese Falcon"

Recently, the L.A. Times' Hero Complex blog headed a Hero Complex Film Festival in L.A., and one of the the events was an Alien/Blade Runner double-header with a chat with Ridley Scott sandwiched between the films. The host of the event asked Scott about meeting Harrison Ford for the first time to discuss Blade Runner. Part of Scott's response included the following statement, which if made by anyone other than Ridley Scott would be ridiculed to no end: "I'd said to my studio and my partners 'I wanna cast this guy called Harrison Ford,' and somebody said, 'Who's that?' and I said 'Well, he's the guy who drives that funny circular vehicle, that Maltese Falc-- what's it called?"
