I positively agree that the flying scene near the end of E.T. is one of the most memorable (if not one of the most emotional) moments in sci-fi movie history. Every time I see this scene, I get goose bumps. There is little doubt that John Williams' score has a lot to do with this. I have the soundtrack CD and get the same feelings just listening to the music.
